St. Louis looks to host Democratic convention

The city of St. Louis again wants to host the Democratic National Convention.

St. Louis hoped to host the 2012 Democratic convention but lost out to Charlotte, N.C. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that a local Democratic leader is in Washington on Wednesday to help woo Democratic Party leaders.

The city will have plenty of competition. Chicago, Dallas and Philadelphia are among the 30 cities asked to consider hosting the presidential nominating convention.

Across the state, Kansas City is pushing aggressively to host the 2016 Republican National Convention. Kansas City is also on the list of prospective Democratic hosts in two years.

St. Louis has hosted four Democratic conventions but none since 1916.
