St. Elizabeth teacher fired after child porn charges

St. Elizabeth R-IV superintendent says Strobel is no longer employed with the district.

A high school teacher in St. Elizabeth has been arrested and charged with two counts of possession of child pornography.

According to court documents, 24-year-old band teacher Stephen Strobel was charged in connection with an investigation stemming from his possession of approximately 15 images of underage children, some as young as 5 years old, engaged in various sexual acts.Court documents also show Strobel admitted to sending and recieving explicit pictures of himself to a girl in Ohio, whom he knew to be 13 or 14 years old.A search of Strobel's cell phone turned up sexually-explicit still photographs and video.

St. Elizabeth R-IV school superintendent Toni Westbrooks-Taylor said that Strobel is no longer employed by the school district."We protect our children and protect them outside of our schoolhouse world," Westbrooks-Taylor said.

She said the school district is conducting it's own investigation, but "at this time, none of our students is involved."
