The Special Olympics Missouri State Outdoor Games is moving to mid-Missouri for the next four years.
Starting in October 2014, the games will take place in Jefferson City. This is the first time a Special Olympics Missouri state event will be held in Jefferson City since the 2007 State Outdoor Championships.

Softball, tennis, soccer, bocce, flag football and golf are featured in the State Outdoor Games, which were previously held in Cape Girardeau from 2010-13.
Several local facilities have already been secured for the State Outdoor Games. Adkins Stadium will host the flag football events, Fields of Legends will be one of several hosts for the softball events, and the 63 Sports Complex will host the bocce events.
Other Jefferson City facilities will include Capitol Plaza Hotel as the host hotel, Binder Park, Riverside Park, the Ellis YMCA and Railwood Golf Course.
An estimated 400 volunteers will be needed for the actual running of the competition. There are a wide variety of volunteer opportunities available including fundraising, meal planning, special event planning, setup and more.
