Arrest made in connection to shooting on Volunteer Drive in Columbia

Authorities arrested 37-year-old Sheri Williams in connection to a shooting in the 5500 block of Volunteer Drive.

Columbia police responded to a shots fired incident at the 5500 block of Volunteer Drive at approximately 5:15 a.m. Sunday, according to a release.

Officers found a 29-year-old man with a gunshot wound inside the home. The victim was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Detectives said Williams entered the home, brandished a firearm and shot the victim before leaving the scene. She and the victim were in an intimate relationship.

Officers found Williams and the car she fled in the 5200 block of Clark Lane.

She was arrested at 7:32 a.m. for felony armed criminal action, felony domestic assault in the first degree and felony unlawful use of a weapon with bonds to be set by the court.

The victim was listed in serious condition at a local hospital according to CPD. Detectives do not believe there are any other suspects in this case.
