Shots-fired call leads to armed robbery investigation

Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery after getting a shots-fired call early Saturday morning.

Police say they were initially called to the Proctor Park/Bear Creek Park area on the north side of town for a shots-fired call a little before 2 a.m. When officers arrived, they met two teens who said someone had tried to rob them. The two young men said they were near the pavilion at nearby Parkade Park when two people approached them. One of the suspects drew a handgun and demanded money. When the teens replied they didn't have any, the suspect hit one of them in the head with the gun several times. The two teens told officers they ran away and heard several shots as they ran, but they were not sure if the shots were being fired at them. Police found a few shell casings in the snow near the pavilion.

The young man who was hit in the head was treated at the scene by paramedics and then released.
