Shooting suspect in custody after injuring woman

Alfredo Rodriguez was charged Tuesday with first-degree domestic assault resulting in serious physical injury, armed criminal action, and resisting arrest.

A 34-year-old man was arrested after a 20-year-old woman was shot in the neck.

Alfredo Rodriguez was charged Tuesday with first-degree domestic assault resulting in serious physical injury, armed criminal action, and resisting arrest.

Columbia Police responded to a report of a gunshot victim just before 6 p.m. Sunday evening in the 5600 block of S. Route K.

A 20-year-old woman was shot in the neck and was taken to University Hospital for life-threatening injuries.

The victim was able to identify her attacker, and witnesses on the scene gave a vehicle description of the suspect.

A Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper located the suspect's vehicle and attempted to stop it at the intersection of I-70 and Route O.

The short pursuit ended when the trooper used spikes to deflate the suspect's tires and Alfredo Rodriguez was taken into custody.

A little after 2 p.m. Wednesday, Rodriguez was arrested on a no-bond warrant for first-degree domestic assault and armed criminal action. He was then taken from the Fulton State Hospital to the Boone County Jail.
