Columbia Police arrested a man after he was found with a stolen gun.
At about 8:45 p.m. Thursday, officers went to the 3200-block of Elm Grove Drive for a report of shots fired.
Investigators said a blue Jeep Cherokee with no license plate drove down Elm Grove Drive toward Brown Station and 25-year-old Brock Griffith, a passenger in the Jeep fired two shots into the air from a handgun.
Officers in the area saw the blue Jeep Cherokee driving southbound on Brown Station Road and eventually stopped it 3009 Paris Road.
Griffith took off running but was eventually taken into custody.
Officers found a loaded handgun in Griffith's pocket.
Authorities realized the gun was stolen from a Columbia Police Department case in 2009.
Officers found one casing in the 3200 block of Elm Grove Drive.
Griffith was arrested for receiving stolen property felony with a bond of $10,000.00 cash only, resisting or interfering with an arrest with a bond of $10,000.00 cash only, unlawful for certain persons to possession concealed firearm with a bond of $10,000.00 cash only, unlawful use of weapons felony with a bond of $20,000.00 cash only, and use or possession of drug paraphernalia with a bond of $500.00.
