Sheriff: Suspect in church burglary taken into custody
COLE COUNTY —
A mid-Missouri church is beginning to have questions answered after several items were reported missing from the church.
Callaway County Sheriff Clay Chism said a suspect has been taken into custody on suspicion of burglarizing the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.
Chism reported multiple items were recovered Tuesday after a joint investigation involving the Callaway County Sheriff's Office, Holts Summit Police Department, Cole County Sheriff's Office and the Jefferson City Police Department. He said all the stolen property was recovered in Cole County.
Youth Pastor John Borcham had told KRCG 13 the burglary took place sometime Thursday night or early Friday morning. Power tools, copper wire, and a furnace were among the items taken from the church.
The sheriff said the investigation was ongoing and extremely active. Chism said he would release additional details at a later time.
