Investigative documents claim a former suspect in the 1990 shooting death of a Chillicothe farm wife told a California man with whom he was embroiled in a business dispute that "he got away with murder and was not scared to do it again."
Newly released investigative records show Brandon Hagan conveyed that threat in a verbal conversation with businessman Sam Gabrielle. Hagan was initially suspected in the Chillicothe killing but insisted he was elsewhere at the time.
Phone messages left with Hagan by The Associated Press Tuesday were not immediately returned.
The records stem from an investigation by Livingston County Sheriff Steve Cox, who reopened the case after an Associated Press investigation raised questions about the conviction of Mark Woodworth, the victim's neighbor.
