Second suspect arrested in Tolston murder

17-year-old Derrick Copelin has been arrested in New Orleans in connection with the murder of Dontay Tolston.

Copelin was taken into custody by New Orleans police Tuesday for an outstanding Boone County warrant for murder in the second-degree.

On January 2, Columbia police were called to the 2000-block of Newton Drive for reported shots fired. Officers said a woman returned home and found Tolston lying on the floor with a gunshot wound. Tolston later died at a local hospital.

Monday, Columbia police arrested 21-year old Martrell Smith and charged him with the murder.

A third suspect, Jimiah A. Lambert, 20, is still wanted and detectives believe he has left the Columbia area.
