Second arrest made in McKee Street homicide

Jeremy Terrell Humphrey, 31 of Columbia was arrested Tuesday night (Boone County Jail)  

The Columbia Police Department announced Wednesday it made a second arrest in connection to a weekend homicide.

Officers said Jeremy Terrell Humphrey, 31 was taken into custody after the Criminal Investigations Division obtained information that Humphrey and the victim, Nathan Taylor, had been in a disturbance shortly before Taylor was shot Friday in the 1800 block of McKee Street.

Police arrested Humphrey Tuesday just after 8 p.m. in the area of the Highway 63 connector and I-70 West during a traffic stop for second-degree felony murder with a cash only bond of $1 million.

Ewayne Marteen, 34, was taken into custody Friday on suspicion of tampering with physical evidence. In a release, police stated Marteen, of Columbia, had deleted text messages from his phone that were connected to incidents leading up to the shooting that led to Nathan Taylor's death Friday night.
