The Columbia Multisport Club hosted the 12th Annual Jay Dix Challenge to Cure Race.
Proceeds from the event benefit local cancer research at Ellis Fischel Cancer Center.
With a 5k walk or run and a 10k run, the Challenge to Cure Race is a family-friendly event for anyone from children to competitive runners.
Race participants were timed and received an athletic t-shirt.
The race honors the memory of Dr. Jay Dix who was a University of Missouri Health Care Pathologist and fought his own battle with cancer.
Event spokeswoman Jeanette Linebaugh said, â??Everyone has been touched by cancer and the diagnosis of cancer so they can all come together and raise money for a great cause and get have some exercise on this beautiful day as well.â??
During the past 12 years, the race has raised more than $170,000 for local research.
