      Rotary gathers people for peace

The event featured music by talented local and school groups and fun children's activities.

Spring is finally here, and what better way to celebrate than a family-friendly community concert on the Capitol Lawn.

The Capital Area Rotary Clubs and Jefferson City Rotary Club organized the first ever Jefferson City Rotary Community Peace Concert.

The event featured music by talented local and school groups and fun children's activities.

Organizers wanted to bring people together to enjoy a nice Sunday afternoon, listening to great music at the focal point of their city at the State Capitol Building.

Event organizer Heidi Doerhoff Vollet said, "Music brings everybody together. It sets the right tone and the right mood. We try to get a variety of groups and also representatives from our community."

Some of the performers at today's event were an Helias Catholic High School rock band, the Jefferson City High School Show Choir, and the Lincoln University Vocal Ensemble.
