Robbers enter store violently, steal liquor and cigarettes

Law enforcement officials are looking for three suspects in a Monday morning burglary at the Bee Line Snack Shop on Old Lohman Road.

Three men are on the run after deputies say they tried to break into a store clerk's car while she was in it, then robbed the store of liquor and cigarettes.

According to the Cole County Sheriff's Department, the clerk was preparing to open the Bee Line Snack Shop in the 5000 block of Old Lohman Road at about 5:30 Monday morning. While she was sitting in her car, she heard someone trying to break the driver's side window; then, someone tried to open the car door.

The clerk put her car in reverse and was able to escape unharmed, after which she called 911.

Upon arrival, Sheriff's deputies found out the suspects had used a rock to break out the front window of the store. Deputies say the suspects were in the store less than a minute, and stole cigarettes, whiskey, and tequila.

Deputies do not have a good description of the suspects. Anyone who may have seen anything suspiciou, is asked to call the Sheriff's Department.
