Repeat offender gets prison time for gun crime

A Columbia man has been sentenced to prison as a felon in possession of a firearm.

A Columbia man was sentenced Tuesday to 15 years and eight months in prison for illegally possessing a firearm that he used to threaten another person.

According to a spokesman for U.S. Attorney Tammy Dickinson, Robert Earl Foster, 50, pleaded guilty to possessing a semi-automatic pistol, which he used to threaten a woman in 2011.

Due to Foster's felony background, which includes drug offenses, robbery, and assault, he is prohibited from possessing any firearm or ammunition.
