      Repeat drunk driver arrested for crashing car through Columbia home

      Arthur Evans was arrested and processed for driving while intoxicated, his second offense, and careless & imprudent driving for driving into the house in the 1100-block of Vintage Drive.





      Police arrested the man responsible for crashing into a home July 2 in Columbia Tuesday afternoon.










      Columbia Police said Arthur Evans, 74, turned himself in at about 3 p.m. Tuesday at the

      request of the Traffic Unit Officer working the accident.







      Evans was arrested and processed for driving while intoxicated, his second offense, and careless & imprudent driving for driving into the house in the 1100-block of Vintage Drive.





      Police said Arthur failed to make a turn and went through a garage door and the garage wall, before coming to a stop in the front yard.

      The crash ripped the gas meter from the house causing a gas leak. Ameren was able to shut off the gas with out any problem.

      Crews disconnected the electricity to the house and got the three residents out safely.

      Evans had a blood alcohol content over the legal limit of .08.
