Recent Columbia home invasion robberies concern residents
Columbia police responded to four home invasion robbery calls since Sunday.
Columbia police responded to two home invasions on Sunday night and another home invasion on Tuesday morning. Columbia’s most recent attempted armed robbery happened at the Colonial Village Mobile Home Park. Randi Jo Bryant lives in Colonial Village with her three month old daughter and boyfriend. Bryant worried more about crime during the holidays.
“I lock the doors every night. I keep the baby close to me," Bryant said. "My boyfriend lives with us so I feel safe with him.”
Bryant’s neighbor Margaret Evans believed her neighborhood was one of Columbia’s high crime areas and counted on her dog Ginger for protection.
“When Ginger is outside and my neighbors are walking by, she’s as friendly as can be," Evans said. "When you approach her home, then she becomes vicious. The teeth come out and she’s ready. I pity anyone who would try to break into my place because they will have to get through my dog first.”
A dog chased away a suspect during an attempted robbery at Colonial Village on Tuesday night.
