BREAKING NEWS: Pulaski County double murder suspect arrested in Chicago
PULASKI COUNTY —
The man charged with murder in a double homicide investigation was arrested Wednesday morning.
Richard Romel Taylor was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, four counts of armed criminal action and two counts of first-degree assault.
Deputies said Jan. 11 they received a 911 report of shots fired call with multiple gunshot victims in the 1400 block of Houston Road, which was in close proximity to the Interstate 44 and Highway 28 overpass.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they found four victims: two males and two females. One male and one female were pronounced dead, and EMS took the other two victims to the Fort Wood Hospital and Phelps County Regional Medical Center.
A deputy reported that one of the victims was able to use sign language and give the name of Romel Taylor as the suspect that shot her and the other victims.
The deceased victims were identified as 24-year-old Johnathan Graham of Crocker and 53-year-old Sherry Gann of Dixon.
Taylor was arrested at 11:53 a.m. Wednesday by the U.S. Marshals. after law enforcement had received a lead he was on the east side of Chicago. Taylor is being held on a federal parole violation for distribution.
An indictment against Taylor was filed Feb. 28.
