Jefferson City native named principal of second high school
JEFFERSON CITY —
Jefferson City Public Schools named Ben Meldrum, a Jefferson City native and Jefferson City High School graduate, as the principal for the district's second high school.
Meldrum will continue to serve as building principal for Simonsen 9th Grade Center until he takes on his new role July 1, 2018.
JCPS said Meldrum will continue to be involved in the construction process and staffing procedures for the second high school.
Meldrum worked for the district for the past 17 years as a teacher, assistant principal, and now principal before he was given the new job.
The announcement came ahead of the second groundbreaking ceremony for the high school on Saturday, February 17.
The event was scheduled for 11 a.m. at the high school site. JCPS said the name of the new high school will be revealed at the groundbreaking.
