Possible MU misappropriation case forwarded to feds
Officials at the University of Missouri said a suspected case of misappropriation of funds at MU has been forwarded to federal authorities because federal laws may have been broken.
According to a press release, the university will continue changing the way it manages external accounts associated with student organizations as the result of the suspected embezzlement.
Authorities suspect that a former employee misappropriated funds affiliated with Greek Life. Those suspicions led them to refer the case to the University Police Department for possible investigation.
Meanwhile, on the authority of Interim Chancellor and Provost Garnett Stokes and Chancellor-designate Alexander Cartwright, anyone with the authority to control external accounts must receive permission from his or her supervisor and the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs to make expenditures from those accounts.
