Police report several thefts from Jefferson City vehicles
JEFFERSON CITY —
Police said they have received numerous reports of thefts from vehicles in Jefferson City.
A press release stated all items stolen were from unlocked vehicles, specifically in the Eastwood/Brookdale area, as well as on Satinwood Drive.
Officers advised the public to follow a few guidelines to help reduce such incidents in Jefferson City.
- Always keep your vehicle locked and your keys in a safe place.
- Make sure you keep valuables out of sight, especially as we approach the holiday shopping season. Thieves are more likely to target vehicles with valuables in plain view.
- Never keep weapons in vehicles unless they are properly secured. Even then, use caution in doing so.
- Within your neighborhood, report any suspicious activity immediately. Even the most seemingly insignificant detail may be relevant to police investigators. We would rather call and respond to something which turns out to be nothing suspicious than miss an opportunity to arrest suspects involved in criminal activity.
Police did not have any suspect information as of Thursday morning, but encouraged anyone with information of suspicious activity to contact Jefferson City Police at 634-6400.
