Jefferson City police investigating suspicious death of 63-year-old man

A 63-year-old man died overnight after he was taken to a Columbia hospital with serious injuries.

Police had responded to an assault call after 11 p.m. Thursday in the 1400 block of East Miller Street. According to a release, Jerry Robertson, of Jefferson City, was found suffering from a number of wounds and in need of medical attention. Police said the cause of the wounds had yet to be determined.

Cole County EMS took the victim to an area hospital before he was flown to Columbia. Robertson was pronounced dead a short time later, and his police are withholding his identity until the family is notified.
