Columbia Police detectives identified the victim of Sunday's homicide at a Break Time gas station.

Police said Jamar Lamont Hicks, 26, of Boone County, died from his injuries at a local hospital. Two others received non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers said the preliminary investigation revealed the three victims were driving in a car on Trimble Road and Brickton Road when a suspected vehicle approached the car and fired rounds. Law enforcement had not made any arrests as of Monday morning.

A press release stated that anyone with information of the incident is asked to contact the Columbia Police Department at (573) 874-7652, or call CrimeStoppers at (573) 875-TIPS (8477) to remain anonymous.

CPD stated it has responded to four homicide scenes in 2017:

  • March 21: Shamya Brimmage, 1000 block of Madison Street
  • March 26: Jeffery Jones & Michael Walker, Jr., I-70 Drive Northwest & Garden Drive
  • May 22: Cameron Caruthers, 1300 block of Dawn Ridge Road
  • July 16: Jamar Hicks, Trimble Road & Brickton Road

Only the case of Shamya Brimmage has resulted in an arrest. Darold Pruitt and Devontre Kennedy were taken into custody on $1 million bonds after both were apparently in the car allegedly involved in the shooting.
