Police: Columbia man threatened victim at ATM, then stole his vehicle
Police arrested a 24-year-old man Friday following a a reported attempted armed robbery.
Officers stated in a release two suspects asked a 17-year-old Wednesday afternoon to drive them to an ATM. The teen told investigators once he arrived at the machine, one of the suspects pointed a gun at him and demanded all the money in his account.
The victim then drove them to another location, where he was able to leave the vehicle. The armed suspect and another man, identified as Jack David, stole the vehicle and drove off. Police found the vehicle later with significant fire damage, according to a police report.
David was arrested Friday on suspicion of the following charges:
- first-degree robbery
- felony kidnapping
- Fflony knowingly burning or exploding
- first-degree property damage
- fourth-degree assault
- second-degree tampering
- misdemeanor stealing.
The second suspect had not been arrested as of Monday afternoon.
