Police arrest male who allegedly punched, kicked child
JEFFERSON CITY —
Jefferson City Police responded to the Capital Mall Saturday in reference to an assault involving a small child.
A press release said numerous witnesses saw a male punching and kicking his 4-year-old daughter multiple times. Witnesses then saw the suspect flee the area in a vehicle with the child.
Officers identified the suspect via video, and then located the suspect and child at a Jefferson City residence. The report said the child had obvious but minor injuries from the assault. The child was taken into protective custody.
The suspect is a 23-year-old Jefferson City resident. He was arrested for child abuse.
The incident is under investigation by the Jefferson City Police Department and Department of Family Services.
