Pickup truck driver charged in coach's death wants change of venue, bond reduction

Attorneys for the pickup truck driver accused in the death of a Harrisburg coach want a change of venue out of Boone County.

Online court records show 26-year-old Brandon Brill's attorneys requested the change in addition to a bond reduction, which currently sits at $1,000,000 cash only.

Boone County prosecutor Dan Knight responded to the change of venue request, denying the existence of any reason for the change.

Judge Jeff Harris set a hearing on the matter for November 22 at 9 a.m. Online court records show Harris noted Brill reserves the right to assert whether he wants the change of venue of the case as a whole, or a change of venue solely for the purpose of jury selection.

Brill faces a second-degree murder charge in the death of Harrisburg coach and teacher, Brian Simpson.

The Boone County jail roster late Tuesday night listed Brill as an inmate.
