A Lake Area teen was still recovering in the hospital Monday after a serious vehicle crash on Friday. While his mom and dad were on their way to see him in the hospital, they were both killed in a separate crash.

Chris Hahn has been on the minds of all who know him.

"We all pretty much feel the same. Concern for him and hoping that he will get better soon," Alexa Daniel said about her coworker.

The 19-year-old from Pittsburg, Missouri was in a head-on collision Friday morning on U.S. 54 in Camden County.

Chris was seriously injured and was taken to University Hospital in Columbia.

When they got word of their son's accident, Chris' parents, Daniel Hahn and Lori Hendrickson, were on their way to the hospital. They were involved in a separate head-on collision on Highway 5 north of Lebanon. Daniel Hahn, Lori Hendrickson and a couple in the other car, Arthur and Crystal Hayes from Eldrige, Missouri, all died in the accident.

Chris works as a cashier at the Camdenton Wal-Mart. Alexa Daniel also works at the Wal-Mart. She doesn't know Chris very well, but says it's still hard for her and her coworkers to comprehend how much his life has changed in such a short amount of time.

"The accident alone with Chris was very unexpected and tragic to begin with, and then to add on his parents as well is kinda like a double-whammy," she said.

Knowing he had medical expenses ahead of him, as well as funerals, Alexa wanted to help in some way. She started a GoFundMe account.

"Rather than sit around and wonder if something is going to be done about it, I decided to do something cause a little bit helps. Every little bit helps," she added. "He's nineteen years old. He has his whole life ahead of him and I just hope to bring his life back to the way it was, as much as I can."

The other couple killed in the crash, Arthur and Crystal Hayes, have a child that attends Lebanon Middle School.

Monday afternoon, Chris remained at University Hospital in fair condition. Click here for the GoFundMe account to help with medical expenses and the funerals for Chris's parents.
