Police say one person was shot and another was stabbed in two separate incidents early Sunday morning.
A little before 2 a.m., Jefferson City police responded to a 911 call about a person who was shot in the 1500 block of Edmonds St. The victim, a 19-year-old Columbia resident, had a single gunshot wound to the back and had sought help at a business on Missouri Blvd. due to his unfamiliarity with the area. When police arrived on Edmonds St., they found several rounds had been fired, but police are not aware of any other victims at this time. Police say the victim is cooperating and provided them with a suspect vehicle description, though police did not release this description.
Around 4:30 a.m., JCPD was told a stabbing victim had been checked into Capitol Region Medical Center. The victim, a 20-year-old Jefferson City resident, refused to cooperate with police, but officers determined the stabbing had happened near E. McCarty and Chestnut streets. Police say they canvassed the area but found no other information or victims.
Police ask anyone with information about either of these incidents to contact the Jefferson City Police Department at (573) 634-6400 or CrimeStoppers at 659-TIPS (8477).
