One on the run after Columbia car chase
One man is behind bars, another on the run after a car chase through West-Central Columbia Friday night.
Around 7:25 p.m. a Boone County Sheriff's Deputy in the area of Ludwick and Scott Boulevards spotted a vehicle matching the description of a vehicle wanted in an earlier incident.
The deputy tried to stop the car around Fairview and Rollins Roads, but the driver failed to stop and initiated a pursuit with deputies and Columbia Police officers.
Eventually the vehicle stopped in the area of Berkshire Court and Yorkshire Drive after stop sticks had been deployed.
The driver and the passenger fled the vehicle on foot.
The passenger, 21-year-old Darold Pruitt Jr., was apprehended almost immediately after a short foot chase.
Authorities found numerous small bags of various controlled substances, a stolen handgun and a large sum of cash in Pruitt's possession.
The driver has not yet been found.
Pruitt was arrested for distribution of a controlled substance, receiving stolen property and resisiting arrest.
