Cole R-1 student identified in deadly car crash

MSHP reported one person died in a Cole County car crash.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed one person died in a car crash Wednesday morning.

MSHP stated the crash took place on Route C between High Point and Russellville, one mile east of Highway 87.

A 2018 Peterbilt trash truck was stopped in the eastbound lane of Route C at 7:20 a.m. when a 2007 Pontiac G6, driven by 16-year-old Elizabeth Eidson, drove into the rear of the truck, a crash report stated. After the impact of the crash, the truck struck a worker as it veered off the right side of the road.

Eidson, a Cole R-1 High School student, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The worker, 24-year-old Kory King, suffered moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital.

MSHP stated the Troop F has responded to three fatal accidents in October.
