One dead after a Montgomery County house fire
MONTGOMERY COUNTY —
One person is dead after a house fire in Montgomery City.
Montgomery Fire Protection District responded to a structure fire in the 800 block of Cherry Street at approximately 2:30 p.m. Thursday. The home had flames inside the residence and black smoke was coming out of the windows, according to Assistant Chief Shults.
Firefighters entered the home through the front door and began extinguishing the fire when the body was found. The Montgomery County Coroner was called to the scene to investigate and the body was sent for an autopsy.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Missouri Fire Marshal's office.
