Tue, 11 Feb 2014 03:08:25 GMT — A stop for a traffic violation ended with a foot chase in north Columbia Monday afternoon. It happened just after 2pm in the 4500 block of Paris Road. The sheriff's department says a deputy with the Pro-Active Investigation Unit stopped a car and suspected one of the vehicle's passengers had lied about his identity. When the deputy tried to detain the passenger for further investigation, the man took off running. 26-year-old Michael J. Dann Jr. was arrested after a short chase on foot. No one was hurt. Dann lists his address as the streets of Columbia and is a convicted sexual offender from the state of New York. The sheriff's department says he did not register with the Boone County Sheriffâ??s Department when he moved here. Dann was arrested for a Missouri Parole Violation warrant (original offense Resisting/Interfering with a felony arrest), which carried no bond;Failing to Verify Sex Offender Registration every 90 days in violation of Missouri RSMO 589.425; Resisting/Interfering with Arrest for a felony, in violation of Missouri RSMO 575.150. Total bond for those two offenses was set at $9,000.
