A floating platform on one of the Mizzou Power Plant smoke stacks caught on fire Wednesday morning.
Work crews are in the process of replacing the smoke stack TMs center platform.
A welder was cutting metal on the platform when a canvas tarp burst into flames.
Fire investigators are trying to figure out exactly what happened.
Work crews used a water fire extinguisher to put out the fire on the moving platform.
Fire retardant blankets on the tarp didn TMt stop the fire from igniting.
Columbia Fire Department Battalion Chief Jim Weaver said, They TMre doing chipping and sandblasting on the chimney to repair all of the cracks and damage to the chimney. The canvas that they put on that is to keep debris from flying over and hitting people down below. It TMs a protection for the people around the tower.
No one was hurt.
