Newburg man is wanted for choking wife

A Newburg man is wanted for choking and hitting his wife during a disagreement. The Newburg Police responded to a call at 21 West 4th Street on July 2nd, when a female said that her and her husband, Garrison Van Pelt, had an argument.

She told police when she tried to exit through a bedroom window, Van Pelt grabbed her and threw her on the floor. He then choked her and began hitting her, while muffling her screams. The victim's glasses were broke during the altercation and she was left with several visible marks on her neck and shoulders.

Officers were unable to find Van Pelt. He is described as a 6'0" white male and weighs 185 pounds. A warrant is out for his arrest, with bond set at $100,000.
