New Stephens College president begins work

Dr. Dianne Lynch, Stephens College twenty-fourth president, officially took office on Tuesday after serving as a Communications Dean at Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York.

Her peers describe her as smart as a whip, dynamic, positive and happy. Lynch said she feels privileged to serve as the President of Stephens College. She says first and foremost, she is an educator.

Lynch said, I am somebody who has devoted the last 20 years of my life to working with undergraduate students, largely, to help them become the best people they can be. That has to do with providing resources, opportunities and helping them think about what it means to dream big dreams.

Lynch also says it will be hard to follow in the footsteps of Dr. Wendy Libby, who served as Stephens TM president since July of 2003. Libby will become the first female president of Stetson University in Florida next month.

Lynch said, My predecessor, Wendy Libby, has done such an amazing job of situating the college for the next step, for the next level of success. I absolutely believe, given the community, the engagement, the commitment, the passion that people have for this institution, that together, we actually will be able to move her forward in a way that will situate, five years from now, as one of the premier schools in the country.

Lynch says, under her leadership, Stephens College will be an institution that offers tomorrow TMs leaders that added value education that will prepare them to be the best and brightest they can be.
