New shift at KC Ford plant adds 900 jobs

Governor Jay Nixon is touting the launch of a third shift Monday night for production of F-150 pickup trucks at Ford's Kansas City assembly plant.

In 2011, Ford announced plans to invest $1.1 billion and create 1,600 new jobs at the plant in Claycomo, to producer a new van and add a second shift on the F-150 line.

In May of this year, the company announced the addition of a third F-150 shift, with an additional 900 jobs.

Missouri taxpayers have provided incentives for the expansion.
