Multi-convicted felon arrested for post office robbery

Lucas Branstetter was arrested for robbing the Kingdom City post office.

A Kingdom City man has been arrested for Saturday's robbery of the Kingdom City post office.

Deputies with the Laclede County Sheriff's Department found Lucas Branstetter, 38, near Lebanon Monday.

During an investigation of a routine suspicious activity call, authorities found Branstetter in possession of a black Harley Davidson motorcycle that had been reported stolen from the Kansas City area.

Branstetter was arrested and taken to the Laclede County jail.

The Callaway County Sheriff's Office and United States Postal Inspection Service investigators went to Laclede county, following up on the post office robbery.

As a result, the United States Attorney's Office Tuesday charged Branstetter with robbing a postal employee, a federal offense.

Branstetter has been transferred to federal custody at an undisclosed location.

He has past felony convictions in Boone, Callaway, Osage, Cole and Audrain counties for charges of robbery, burglary and forgery.

At the time of his arrest, Branstetter was under the supervision of the Missouri Board of Probation and Parole.
