MU names new Chief Operating Officer

MU has announced the appointment of Gary Ward as Vice Chancellor for Operations and Chief Operating Officer.

The University of Missouri has named a new Vice Chancellor of Operations and Chief Operating Officer at MU to replace the retired Jacquelyn Jones.

Chancellor R. Bowen Loftin announced the appointment of Gary Ward to the position on a permanent basis; he has been serving in an interim capacity since Jan. 1.

According to the MU News Bureau, Ward will provide oversight to several departments, including MU Police, Campus Facilities, Show-Me State Games, and Environmental Health and Safety.

Before becoming the interim COO, Ward served as Associate Vice Chancellor for Facilities, where he oversaw more than $500 million in construction projects.
