Wed, 04 Sep 2013 19:55:00 GMT — A motorcyclist is behind bars after a high speed chase through Cole County Tuesday night. Jefferson City police officers pursued Shane W. Vandelicht, of Fulton, at speeds over 100 mph when Cole County deputies joined in the chase as it headed west on Highway 54. When the bike reached a speed of 130 mph, deputies stopped their chase, but soon after the motorcycle turned on Quail Road and crashed. A patrol car was also damaged when it went off the same road as it followed the cycle. Vandelicht tried to flee on foot but was caught. He was taken to the Cole County Jail for felony possession of a controlled substance, operating a vehicle in a careless manner, failing to yield to emergency vehicles, resisting arrest, driving while revoked/suspended, and two counts of failing to obey a traffic control device.His bond is set at $6,000.
