MoDOT ready for Mizzou football traffic

MoDOT says it's ready to deal with the increase in traffic that will come with this weekend's first Mizzou home football game.

All roadway work on the Stadium Boulevard and I-70 interchange will stop at noon on the Fridays before home football games to accommodate the increased volume of traffic. Some work may take place off of the roadway, but the majority of the construction work will stop on Fridays at noon and resume the following Monday morning.

â??We realize football fans will be coming into Columbia as early as the Friday before the games, so we hope that suspending the construction work will make traffic flow a little better,â?? said MoDOT Central District Engineer David Silvester. â??We also want people to know that despite the construction work going on, Stadium Boulevard remains open to traffic and all businesses in the area are accessible.â??

In addition, MoDOT will have staff on hand to handle emergency maintenance situations or to help the Missouri State Highway Patrol with traffic control if needed.

â??We always have a few more employees on call for home games just in case theyâ??re needed,â?? Silvester said.
