Moberly man charged with child sex crimes and endangerment arraigned

Carl Sheets was arraigned on 16 charges, many of which involve child sex crimes, child endangerment, and domestic violence.{ }{ }

A Moberly man accused of 16 crimes, many of which involve child sex and endangerment, was arraigned Monday in Randolph County Circuit Court.

Moberly police said Carl Edward Sheets, 38, was taken into custody on Oct. 17 on a $500,000 bond on suspicion of:

Second-degree sodomy

Incest

Second-degree statutory Rape

Endangering the welfare of a child

First-degree rape or attempted rape

First-degree endangering the welfare of a child - first offense sexual conduct

Abuse or neglect of a child

Incest

Second-degree statutory sodomy

First-degree endangering the welfare of a child creating substantial risk - first offense sexual conduct

Incest

First-degree endangering the welfare of a child creating substantial risk -first offense no sexual conduct

Second-degree domestic assault - first offense

Unlawful use of a weapon

Second-degree domestic assault

Second-degree domestic assault

Randolph County Prosecutor Mike Fusselman said Sheets filed a motion requesting more information on some of the charges. He also requested a speedy trial.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 6 for a bond reduction hearing. He is currently being held in the Randolph County jail on $500,000 bond.
