Missouri to allow health insurance companies to continue cancelled plans

Thu, 21 Nov 2013 18:42:19 GMT — Governor Jay Nixon announced Thursday the Missouri Department of Insurance will notify insurers that small group and individual plans set to expire on December 31 would be allowed to continue into 2014."Here in Missouri, my administration has been confirmed from Day One to foresting a stable, predictable insurance market and making sure Missourians have access to quality, affordable health insurance options," Nixon said.He also praised the Director of Missouriâ??s Department of Insurance John M. Huff."I applaud Director Huff for his continued efforts to provide certainty in this area," the governor said.Huff said, "The department has not identified any Missouri law prohibiting this coverage to continue."On November 14th, the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicare Services issued a letter to states that would allow policyholders to continue their coverage.
