The leader of Missouri Task Force 1 said Friday the emergency response team is prepared for whatever task it's called to do in southeast Texas.

Hurrican Harvey was upgraded to a Category 4 just before making landfall near Corpus Christi Friday night.

"Our purpose of going to Texas is to assist the citizens in the impact areas as needed, whether it's water rescues, wide area searches, building collapses or humanitarian efforts, our members are ready to go," said Task Force Leader Rand Sanders in a Facebook post.

Boone County Assistant Fire Chief Gale Blomenkamp said the task force was slated to arrive in San Antonio between 10:00 and 11:00pm Friday.

Officials said the team will likely bed down for the rest of the night as Hurricane Harvey is expected to strike southeast Texas overnight. The task force said it will likely assist with water rescues.
