Missouri officials to discuss plans for Normandy

The Missouri State Board of Education is preparing to consider recommendations for the unaccredited Normandy School District.
The suburban St. Louis district has been unaccredited since 2013, and a special task force was created to develop plans if Normandy were to lapse.
The task force recommends establishing a new education authority within Normandy and creating a Joint Executive Governing Board for the district. The board would have five to seven members and include one or two members of the current school board. Members of the new governing board would be appointed by the State Board of Education.
The state education board was scheduled to discuss recommendations Tuesday. State officials also plan to consider revisions to a plan for assisting and intervening in troubled school districts.
