Missouri National Guard to help with Haiti relief

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- The Missouri National Guard is sending 11 airmen and a C-130 cargo plane to North Carolina to help with relief for Haiti.

The 139th Airlift Wing is from the Rosecrans Air National Guard Base in St. Joseph. They were scheduled to leave Wednesday to spend one week at Pope Air Force Base in Fort Bragg, N.C.

The U.S. military relief effort dubbed Operation Unified Response has been air dropping humanitarian aid into Haiti since Jan. 13, the day after a massive earthquake struck the country.
