The Glasgow Police and Fire Department responded to Stump Island Park on the Missouri River to search for two Glasgow residents Sunday night.
Family members had become concerned when Megan Brand and Ryan Lefort had not arrived at the Glasgow Quarries after two hours on the water. Family members said the two had both entered the river intoxicated at Stump Island on a blow-up air mattress. They started floating south toward the Glasgow rock quarries.
The Glasgow Fire Department used a boat to search the river south and Howard County Fire District Station #2 at New Franklin used a boat which searched north. Neither boat was successful in finding the individuals.
When notified the individuals may have floated further south, the Boone County Fire Department used a boat at Rocheport to conduct a search without success.
With the assistance of the Staff for Life helicopter from the University Hospital and the Missouri State Highway Patrol's helicopter crew from Jefferson City they conducted a search of the river and surrounding areas with again, no success.
At approximately 2:30 Monday morning all agencies ended the search with intentions of returning to the area after daylight.
Around 6:00 a.m. on Monday, Howard Central Dispatch received a call that the individuals had walked to a residence south of Glasgow and were not in need of emergency services.
