No students were injured in incident where a Thomas Jefferson Middle School eighth grader pulled out a BB pistol on a school bus Monday afternon.
According to Jefferson City Public Schools, the student on Bus #4 was showing the pistol to other students. At least one of the bus riders told the driver about it, and the driver then contacted First Student Transportation and the police were called.
The bus stopped near Tom Lee Drive and students were asked to get off while police determined which student had the pistol.
The student responsible was taken into police custody. The incident is under investigation.
Jefferson City Public Schools spokesman David Luther says:
"This is a serious reminder that parents and schools must work together to help children understand the ramifications of bringing any kind of weapon, even a toy, on to school grounds."
