The Sales Tax Holiday was in full swing at Walmart in Osage Beach Saturday. People were filling their carts with school supplies to gear up for back-to-school.

"There's a lot of people in the main aisles of school supplies," said 13-year-old Jayden Swanigan. "There were so many people in there you had to step back and wait a let it empty out a little bit before I could go in there."

School supplies, clothing, and personal computers were all available for purchase without state sales tax. Cities can opt out of participating in this weekend, and many in mid-Missouri cities did.

This means the cities can still charge their city sales tax rate. Osage Beach's rate is two percent. However, shoppers still saved on the state sales tax which is four percent.
