Mid-Missouri 4th of July firework displays

Many Mid-Missouri communities are celebrating the 4th of July with fireworks displays and other events.

In Jefferson City, the 2013 Salute to America kicks off Wednesday, July 3rd.

Organizers say events take place in downtown Jefferson City, including carnival rides and a classic car show. The parade is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Wednesday. Thursday's celebration begins at 11 a.m. and continues to 11 p.m..

In Columbia, Fire in the Sky events kick off at 6:30 p.m.on July 4th with festivities held in the downtown District.

Flat Branch Park and Mizzou's Peace Park will be the main locations for entertainment.

Fireworks will be shot from the top of the Sixth and Cherry parking garage at about 9:15 p.m. You're reminded not to bring fireworks to the event, but encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket.

The city of Holts Summitâ??s celebration will be on July 3rd. Events at Greenway Park kick off at 5:00 p.m. and fireworks will begin at dark.
