Mexico man sentenced on sex crimes conviction

A Mexico man has been sentenced to 75 years in prison for a number of sexual crimes against a child.

A Mexico man will serve what amounts to a life sentence of 75 years in prison for crimes including statutory rape, child molestation, and statutory sodomy.

According to Audrain County Prosecutor Jacob Shellabarger, Andrew Thompson, 34, of Mexico was sentenced Monday to 25 years for statutory rape, 25 years each for three counts of statutory sodomy, and 15 years for child molestation in the first degree, and four years for sexual misconduct involving a child.

The rape and sodomy charges will be served consecutively with one another.

Shellabarger said the sentence was appropriate and that Thompson had no remorse for what he put the victim through. "This sentence ensures a dangerous predator will not ever return to our community," he said.
